On October 28, 2025, Miami Herald reporter Brendan Rascius wrote a rather daring article called "Do Americans believe in paranormal beings?" Her main point is that "Substantial shares of Americans say they believe in paranormal beings, including ghosts, demons, vampires and werewolves." This is according to a new YouGov survey conducted in the lead-up to Halloween.
Another revelation (that isn't really that revelatory) is that a majority of Americans also claim to have had at least one paranormal experience or spirit encounter. And many are convinced they possess psychic abilities or intuitive powers of their own, suggesting a deep and enduring interest in ghost sightings and unseen energy fields.
YouGov's data journalist Jamie Ballard explained that the poll sampled 1,136 U.S. adults and found that the most "common paranormal events Americans say they have experienced — among the 13 asked about — are feeling a presence or unknown energy (35%), smelling an unexplained odor (32%), hearing an unexplained sound or music (31%), hearing the voice of someone who wasn’t there (26%), and feeling an unexplained change in temperature (26%)."
These findings show that belief in paranormal forces is no longer a fringe curiosity but part of the broader cultural fabric. Whether people interpret these sensations as ghost activity, dimensional overlaps, or natural phenomena not yet understood, the curiosity about unseen realities continues to grow.
Here is the bottom line for even more people than those who respond to polls or report their otherworldly experiences: There are dimensions within and other than the one we commonly call our reality. This is a fact now taken seriously even by physicists exploring quantum fields and multidimensional reality around the world.
